MOLLI course, October–November 2014
Robert E. McCoy presented his nine-hour course “North Korea: Nuclear Nightmare or Bellicose Bully.” This course outlines the history from which the current North Korean situation has evolved. Key international relationships are explored from ancient times to the late 19th century and on through the end of World War II. The events leading up to the Korean War are discussed and the war itself is briefly summarized. Selected incidents since then serve to illustrate the potential for violence on the Korean peninsula. Interests and concerns of regional states dealing with North Korea are covered. Finally, some likely outcomes are evaluated.
